Graston Soft Tissue Technique

A very effective "Instrument-Assisted" therapeutic technique to detect and treat Soft Tissue Injuries

The Chiropractic Wellness Studio is offering a new form of treatment which both diagnoses and treats Soft Tissue conditions including Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendinitis, Tennis Elbow and Golfer's Elbow.

Postural imbalances and joint restrictions often lead to tight and sore muscles. Tendons are the tissues responsible for attaching muscles to bone and will become strained and inflamed if there is chronic muscular tightness or restricted joint movement patterns.

Chronically tight regions in muscles, tendons and ligaments often form small areas of scar tissue, called adhesions. These adhesions create a physical barrier to proper movement and prevent the muscles and tendons from achieving their full, pain free range of motion. Over time, these tight muscles and tendons start to become inflamed and scar tissue forms to protect the tendons and muscles from further damage and injury.

Our female Chiropractors are certified in a specific brand of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy called GRASTON TECHNIQUE. This instrument assisted technique physically breaks up adhesions and scar tissue which interfere with your muscles' normal ranges of motion.

GRASTON technique utilizes six patented stainless steel instruments, uniquely shaped to treat different areas of the body. The weight and design of the various instruments allows us to effectively locate and remove superficial and deep soft tissue dysfunction by breaking up the scar tissue and adhesions, increasing blood flow to the injured area and encouraging restoration of normal tissue function.

This treatment process will reduce and eliminate the adhered fibres, restoring normal muscle and tendon function and eliminating the associated pain and inflammation. Increased blood flow to and from the area caused by the frictional nature of this technique also promotes healing.

Specific conditions which are known to respond favourably to GRASTON TECHNIQUE include:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer's elbow
  • Shin splints
  • Post-surgical scarring
